Move-in information and FAQ

  • How do I access the Internet?
    Connect your PC to the village network via LAN cable or Wi-Fi (eduroam, or the village Wi-Fi; the QR code is posted on the bulletin boards of the houses).
  • Where can I do laundry?
    The village has two laundry rooms. One laundry room is located in the administration building, behind the Gutenberg terraces. You can do your laundry there for 1€. Please note: You can only pay for the washing machines with 1€ coins; the washing machines do not give change. There is a Webcamto see if there is still a machine available.
    The other laundry room is located between the two high-rise buildings 20 and 30. Here you can wash your laundry for 1.50€ (payable only with a prepaid student card).
    The dryers in both laundry rooms can be used free of charge. You must bring your own detergent.
  • What should I do if I lock myself out?
    During opening hours, you can contact the property management. Only in emergencies will the village mayor grant you access between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. for 5 € to your room and after 10 p.m. for 10 €. The emergency caretaker service (0551 39 35 359) can also help you. This service takes 75€ for unlocking your door.
  • Where can I get bed linen, curtains, toilet paper, and/or shower curtains?
    If you are entitled to do so according to your rental agreement, you can pick up what you need from Ms. Kleinert at Gutenbergstraße 32 (next door to the dormitory administration office).
  • Where do I report a defect in my room?
    The Studentenwerk defect report is fully digitized, so you can use this form at the Studentenwerk to report defects.
  • Is there a way to borrow tools for repairs I do myself?
    The Tool Tutorial offers various tools for loan. A list can be found on the corresponding website.
  • Is there any assistance available for bicycle repairs?
    The bicycle tutorial offers free assistance with repairs and spare parts for sale at advertised times. Times can be found on the website or on the door of the bicycle shed (on Dorfstraße in front of house 22/22a).
  • I'm an international student and need help, where can I get it?
    The Integration Tutorial will be able to help you with any problem you might have regarding the Studentendorf. You find their contacts on the website.
